What Is International OSHA?

International OSHA provides industry-specific OSHA safety training to workers located outside of OSHA's jurisdiction. According to OSHA regulations, workers located outside of the United States and other areas under OSHA's jurisdiction are not eligible to participate in OSHA Outreach training.

Fortunately, OSHA Education Center's International OSHA program provides equivalent training on OSHA standards for workplace safety and health. After completing a 30-hour International OSHA course, you will be better prepared to recognize jobsite hazards and lead workplace safety initiatives.

Who Needs 30-Hour International OSHA Training?

30-Hour International OSHA training is designed for supervisors and workers with safety responsibilities. This training is ideal for workers who do not qualify for OSHA Outreach training because they are located outside of OSHA's jurisdiction.

OSHA's jurisdiction includes:

  • The United States
  • District of Columbia
  • Commonwealth of Puerto Rico
  • Wake Island
  • Johnston Island
  • The Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands
  • Virgin Islands
  • American Samoa
  • Guam
  • Outer Continental Shelf Lands as defined in the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act

Our 30-hour International OSHA course is available in two industry-specific versions: construction and general industry. This helps ensure that your training will cover safety topics specific to your role.

The 30-hour construction course is for workers who perform new construction, alterations or repairs. The general industry course is for workers in any industry other than construction, agriculture or maritime.

What Are the Benefits of International OSHA Training?

30-Hour International OSHA training provides supervisors with knowledge and skills that help prevent injuries and keep workplaces safe and productive.

If your location disqualifies you from participating in OSHA Outreach training, you can receive equivalent training on OSHA safety standards through the International OSHA program.

Immediately after you pass the final exam, you can download your Certificate of Completion. You will also receive a digital wallet card that you can print and carry with you as proof of your training history.

Which International OSHA Course Do I Need?

30-Hour International OSHA training is available in two industry-specific versions: construction and general industry. To ensure you're properly trained to avoid the hazards at your workplace, you should take the version that best aligns with your industry.

The 30-Hour construction course is designed for supervisors involved in new construction, demolition, building development and other fields in the construction industry. It includes a detailed overview of the most common risks of construction work, including fall hazards, caught-in or -between hazards, struck-by hazards and electrocution.

The general industry course is appropriate for workers in any industry outside of construction, agriculture and maritime. It is ideal for supervisors in manufacturing, factory operations, warehousing and storage, health care and more. The 30-hour general industry course covers a wide range of occupational hazards, including risks related to walking and working surfaces, materials handling, bloodborne pathogens, fires, machinery and more.
