Entry-Level General Industry Workers in Washington
100% Online Training
Washington OSHA Certificate
This course package is designed for entry-level workers employed in general industry. That is a blanket term that includes everything from manufacturing and warehousing to hospitality, medical services and education.
The bundle contains a course for Washington-specific workplace regulations and a separate OSHA-authorized Outreach program that teaches federal safety standards.
Washington operates an OSHA-Approved State Plan that applies to almost every workplace in the Evergreen State. These state-specific guidelines go above and beyond the national worker protections established by OSHA.
Most of these state rules are found in the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) and other state laws that build on the guidance of OSHA's 29 CFR 1910 standard for general industry.
All Washington employees should understand the regulations that govern their jobs and protect their rights.
This training package includes 17 total lesson modules split across two courses — one for WA L&I topics and one for federal OSHA guidelines.
Upon completion of Washington OSHA training, you'll be prepared to:

To earn your WA OSHA certificate and your DOL-issued OSHA 10 card, you must pass end-of-module quizzes after each lesson plus a final exam. Quizzes will test your knowledge of Washington's state-specific safety laws and OSHA standards. The final exam covers the topics explored in the national Outreach course.
This course includes eight end-of-module quizzes. Each assessment is based on Washington worker safety laws. The quizzes consist of five questions.
You must score at least 70% to pass, and you have up to three attempts for each quiz. If you fail any quiz three times, you must start over by purchasing the course again.
OSHA 10 General Industry Outreach Training features nine additional end-of-module quizzes and a separate final exam on federal OSHA topics. Just like the Washington-specific content, you have three chances to pass each quiz and the final exam with a score of at least 70%.
Failing any quiz or the exam three times in a row will lock you out of the course. If that happens, you must purchase the course again to restart your training.
The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries is a state-run organization designed to safeguard Washingtonians on the job. Administering the OSHA-approved Washington State Plan is one of the agency's many duties.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is charged with creating and enforcing national workplace safety standards. OSHA's rules establish the baseline for all U.S. states and territories.
Federal regulations apply to any situation not spelled out in WISHA or other Washington-specific workplace laws.
While your OSHA 10 card and your Washington State certificate don't expire, you should refresh your training on a regular basis to keep up with changing regulations. Some employers may require periodic retraining (usually every three years) as a condition of employment.
Contact your employer for more information about your specific situation.
It takes about 13 hours to finish all the lessons, quizzes and tests in both courses. The OSHA Outreach course lasts approximately 10 hours, while the WISHA content is roughly three hours long. There is no timer. You can take as long as you want to study each topic.
By law, students cannot complete more than 7.5 hours of Outreach Training in one day. That means you will have to spend at least two days on your training, though you are free to study at your own pace over a longer period.
Only the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) can issue OSHA 10 cards. To earn one, you must complete 10 hours of OSHA-authorized Outreach Training on specific workplace safety topics appropriate for your workplace.
Each wallet-sized card is printed on durable plastic and includes your name, the date the card was issued and the name of your training provider. Cards are accepted nationwide as proof of satisfactory safety training.
Some managers and safety personnel require additional training, which can be found in the Washington State Plan course for supervisors.
As soon as you complete all lessons and succeed on every test and quiz! Once you finish, you can immediately download and print digital copies of your Washington OSHA Certificate of Completion and your OSHA 10 certificate. The official plastic OSHA 10 wallet card is sent by the DOL and will arrive in the mail within two weeks.
