SST 1-Hour Tools — Hand and Power

SST 1-Hour Tools — Hand and Power is designed for New York City construction and demolition workers seeking an SST Worker or Supervisor card.

Workers with a 10-hour OSHA Construction card can take this course to earn one of four General Elective training hours required for a full SST Worker card. For supervisors with a 30-hour OSHA Construction card, the course provides one of two hours of General Elective training required for a full Supervisor SST card.

• Site Safety Coordinators
• Site Safety Managers
• Competent Persons
• Journeypersons and forepersons
• Other workers at jobsites that require a Site Safety Plan

The 1-Hour Tools — Hand and Power course is a DOB-approved SST General Elective that explains the safe use of a variety of tools commonly used in construction.

To pass the course, you must complete a five-question quiz after each module and a 20-question comprehensive final exam. The exam and all quizzes are multiple choice, and you have an unlimited number of attempts to pass. You must complete the final exam in one sitting.

You are required to score at least 80% on each quiz and at least 70% on the final exam to receive your SST credit hour. Once you pass each course module quiz and the final exam, you can instantly download a digital Certificate of Completion.

The course takes at least one hour to finish. You must complete your training within 180 days of purchase. To get your SST card, you need to finish all your required training and provide the course certificates to OSHA Education Center or another DOB-approved Site Safety Training provider.

1-Hour Tools — Hand and Power is an awareness-level course that explains how to safely use a variety of construction tools. You'll learn how to prevent injuries by properly selecting, using and maintaining tools. You'll also learn which tools require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Upon completing the course, you will be able to:

• Describe hazards and controls associated with hand and power tool use
• Understand how knowledge of hazards prevents the misuse of tools and related injuries
• Select appropriate tethering devices and personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep workers and pedestrians safe

The course is divided into four modules on hand-held and power tools. Each module ends with a review and brief quiz, and you must complete a final exam to earn your SST credit hour.

The course ends with an exam that assesses the student's comprehension and understanding of all course and module objectives.
